Abstract
A method of determining a temperature of a patient includes measuring a first temperature of the patient with a temperature device, and measuring a second temperature of an environment with the temperature device. The method includes determining if a change in the ambient temperature exceeds a threshold. If the change does exceed the threshold, the method also includes applying a correction factor to the first temperature of the patient to account for the change in ambient temperature.

A temperature measurement device, comprising:
- a body;
- an interface including a component configured to receive an input associated with a temperature measurement of a patient;
- and
- a temperature sensing element enclosed within the body, comprising;
- a temperature sensor configured to detect a temperature of the patient in response to the input;
- a flex circuit coupled to the temperature sensor, the flex circuit comprising an electrical connection and a data connection;
- and
- a memory device coupled to the flex circuit and the data connection, wherein the memory device stores data used to determine the temperature of the patient based on data from the temperature sensor.
A sensing component, comprising:
- a temperature sensor configured to detect a temperature of a target;
- a memory device that stores data used to determine the temperature of the target based on data from the temperature sensor;
- and
- a flex circuit coupled to the temperature sensor and the memory device, the flex circuit providing an electrical connection and a data connection to the temperature sensor and the memory device.
A method of manufacturing a temperature measurement device, comprising:
- providing a temperature sensing element configured to detect a patient temperature of a patient;
- providing a flex circuit and coupling the temperature sensing element to the flex circuit;
- providing a memory device and coupling the memory device to the flex circuit;
- programming calibration data to the memory device, the calibration data for determining the patient temperature from sensor data;
- and
- programming a controller to determine the patient temperature based on the sensor data and the calibration data.
