Exemplary embodiments are provided of HVAC control assemblies (e.g., aftermarket universal replacement controls, etc.) and corresponding methods of configuring pinout of connectors for HVAC control assemblies.

An HVAC control assembly comprising:
- an HVAC control board including a plurality of relays and a plurality of interface connectors configured to cover different pinouts of interface connectors for different existing HVAC controls;
- and
- an HVAC controller configured to use the relays to configure pinout of the plurality of connectors of the HVAC control assembly.
