Parking management for autonomous vehicles through augmented reality

A computer program product to enhance parking of autonomous vehicles comprising:

• one or more computer readable storage media;
• and
• program instructions collectively stored on the one or more computer storage media, the program instructions comprising:
• program instructions to capture, through one or more sensors, at least a portion of the physical characteristics of a parking facility;
• program instructions to identify, through the one or more sensors, at least a portion of the physical characteristics of at least a portion of first vehicles within the at least a portion of the parking facility;
• program instructions to generate, subject to the capturing and identifying, an augmented reality (AR) representation of the at least a portion of the parking facility and the at least a portion of the first vehicles;
• program instructions to present, through a display device, the AR representation of the at least a portion of the parking facility and the at least a portion of the first vehicles;
• program instructions to receive, subject to the presenting, one or more potential parking locations at least partially based on presently vacant parking locations indicated within the AR representation of the at least a portion of the parking facility and the at least a portion of the first vehicles;
• and
• program instructions to park, subject to the receiving, one or more autonomous vehicles within one or more selected parking locations of the one or more potential parking locations.

A computer-implemented method for using augmented reality (AR) to enhance parking of autonomous vehicles comprising:

• capturing, through one or more sensors, at least a portion of the physical characteristics of a parking facility;
• identifying, through the one or more sensors, at least a portion of the physical characteristics of at least a portion of first vehicles within the at least a portion of the parking facility;
• generating, subject to the capturing and identifying, an augmented reality (AR) representation of the at least a portion of the parking facility and the at least a portion of the first vehicles;
• presenting, through a display device, the AR representation of the at least a portion of the parking facility and the at least a portion of the first vehicles;
• receiving, subject to the presenting, one or more potential parking locations at least partially based on presently vacant parking locations indicated within the AR representation of the at least a portion of the parking facility and the at least a portion of the first vehicles;
• and
• parking, subject to the receiving, one or more autonomous vehicles within one or more selected parking locations of the one or more potential parking locations.
