Abstract
A multi-layer film is described and disclosed. The multi-layer film can be made from renewable resources. The multi-layer film can also be biodegradable and compostable. In one aspect, the film includes a cellulose ester polymer layer laminated to a bio-based polyester film layer. The bio-based polyester film layer provides heat seal properties, while the cellulose ester polymer layer provides tear resistance and better modulus properties.
Claims20
A multi-layer film comprising:
- a first film layer comprising a cellulose ester polymer combined with a plasticizer, the first film layer having a first surface and a second and opposite surface;
- and
- a second film layer bonded adjacent to the first surface of the first film layer, the second film layer comprising a heat sealable bio-based polyester polymer, the biobased polyester polymer comprising a polybutylene succinate polymer.
