Described herein are therapeutic compositions comprising heparin-associated polypeptides useful for the treatment of soft-tissue and muscle diseases, disorders, and injuries.

A method for treating muscle, comprising the steps of:
- obtaining a subject suffering from a muscle-wasting condition;
- and
- treating the subject with a composition wherein the composition comprises a polypeptide of Table 2, and wherein the administration increases expression of MYOG, MYOD1, MYH3, CK, or ATP1B1.
