Methods and systems for filling climate controlled medications

A method of filling a shipping container with a medication, containing the steps of:

• picking at least one medication directly from a shipping box that is located within an environmentally controlled storage with at least one robot;
• delivering the at least one medication to a packager that includes at least one shipping container with at least one robot;
• and
• picking at least one coolant from a coolant supply and delivering the at least one coolant to the packager with the at least one robot.

A temperature-controlled medication packaging system, comprising:

• an environmentally controlled storage including a temperature-controlled interior containing a plurality of medications that are disposed within a plurality of shipping boxes, the shipping boxes having openings;
• a coolant supply including at least one coolant;
• a filler supply including a filler material;
• a paperwork producer including paperwork related to the medications;
• a packager including at least one insulated shipping container;
• a first robotic arm that has a range of motion that includes at least the coolant supply and the packager;
• a second robotic arm that has a range of motion that includes the packager and also includes at least one of the coolant supply, the filler supply, and the paperwork producer;
• a controller in electrical communication with the first and second robotic arms;
• and
• the controller being configured to operate the first robotic arm to retrieve at least one medication of the plurality of medications directly from one of the shipping boxes and deliver the at least one medication to the packager and being configured to operate the second robotic arm to retrieve and deliver to the packager at least one of the at least one coolant, the filler material, and the paperwork.
