Abstract
Methods and systems for an electric machine. The electric machine includes, in one example, a stator with end windings and a stator core and a cooling assembly with a spray ring that is directly coupled to an axial face of the stator core. In the electric machine, the spray ring is configured to spray a coolant at the end windings and includes a first section that extends down the axial face of the stator core and a second section that extends axially away from the stator core.
Claims20
An electric machine, comprising:
- a stator including a plurality of end windings and a stator core;
- and
- a cooling assembly including a spray ring that is directly coupled to an axial face of the stator core, wherein the spray ring is configured to spray a coolant at the plurality of end windings and includes:
- a first section that extends down the axial face of the stator core;
- and
- a second section that extends axially away from the stator core.
A method for operating a cooling assembly in an electric machine, comprising:
- spraying a coolant from a spray ring toward a plurality of stator end windings;
- wherein the electric machine includes:
- a cooling assembly that includes the spray ring that is directly coupled to an axial face of a stator core, wherein the spray ring includes:
- a first section that extends down the axial face of the stator core;
- and
- a second section that extends axially away from the stator core.
An electric motor, comprising:
- a stator including a plurality of hairpin end windings and a stator core;
- and
- a cooling assembly including a spray ring that is directly coupled to an axial face of the stator core, wherein the spray ring is configured to spray oil at the plurality of end windings and includes:
- a first section that extends down the axial face of the stator core;
- and
- a second section that extends axially away from the stator core.
