Abstract
In various examples, the subject matter of this disclosure relates to heat-shrinkable films and systems and methods for manufacturing and recycling heat-shrinkable films. A heat-shrinkable film can include: a first layer having a first copolymerized polyester resin; and a second layer disposed on the first layer and having a second copolymerized polyester resin, wherein the heat-shrinkable film is predisposed to either (i) curl towards the first layer when heat is applied or (ii) not curl towards the second layer when heat is applied. A layer of ink can be disposed on the second layer.
Claims30
A heat-shrinkable film comprising:
- a first layer comprising a first copolymerized polyester resin;
- and
- a second layer disposed on the first layer and comprising a second copolymerized polyester resin,
- wherein the heat-shrinkable film is predisposed to either (i) curl towards the first layer when heat is applied or (ii) not curl towards the second layer when heat is applied.
A shrink sleeve comprising:
- a heat-shrinkable film forming a tube shape and comprising:
- a first layer comprising a first copolymerized polyester resin;
- and
- a second layer disposed on the first layer and comprising a second copolymerized polyester resin;
- and
- a layer of ink disposed on the second layer,
- wherein a particle of the heat-shrinkable film is predisposed to either (i) curl towards the first layer when heat is applied or (ii) not curl towards the second layer when heat is applied.
A method of manufacturing a heat-shrinkable film, the method comprising:
- coextruding a heat-shrinkable film comprising (i) a first layer comprising a first copolymerized polyester resin and (ii) a second layer disposed on the first layer and comprising a second copolymerized polyester resin,
- wherein the film is predisposed to either (i) curl towards the first layer when heat is applied or (ii) not curl towards the second layer when heat is applied.
A method of recycling a heat-shrinkable film, the method comprising:
- obtaining particles of a heat-shrinkable film comprising:
- a first layer comprising a first copolymerized polyester resin;
- and
- a second layer disposed on the first layer and comprising a second copolymerized polyester resin;
- and
- a layer of ink disposed on the second layer;
- and
- immersing the particles in a liquid bath,
- wherein the particles are predisposed to either (i) curl towards the first layer when heat is applied or (ii) not curl towards the second layer when heat is applied.
