Abstract
A composition of matter for use in a binder jet is provided. The composition includes a binder, and the binder includes a polymer made from saturated monomers. The binder may be a reversible binder that decomposes during sintering. And, different binders may be used in different locations of a target object produced using the inventive compositions.
Claims21
A composition of matter for use in a binder jet, comprising:
- a binder comprising a polymer made from saturated monomers.
A composition of matter for use in a binder jet, comprising a mixture of:
- a reversible binder;
- and
- one or more sinterable powders.
A method of binder jetting using plural reversible that include at least an oxide forming binder and a non-oxide forming binder, the method comprising:
- depositing at least one powder selected from metal powder and ceramic precursor powder;
- depositing a first reversible binder with the at least one powder, wherein the first reversible binder is an oxide forming binder;
- and
- depositing a second reversible binder with the at least one powder, wherein the second reversible binder is a non-oxide forming binder, and the depositing of the second reversible binder is in a different location than the depositing of the first reversible binder.
A method of binder jetting using a polymerizable monomer and a vulcanizing agent, comprising:
- depositing the polymerizable monomer and the vulcanizing agent in contact with each other during a binder jetting process to form a green body having a form of a target object;
- and
- heating the green body and to thereby vulcanize the polymerizable monomer and form a vulcanized target object.
