A wireless communication device for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory;
and
one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the one or more processors configured to:
sense, using a beam sweeping operation during a channel check period, a shared wireless communication channel;
and
perform a wireless communication action based at least in part on whether a high priority wireless communication signal is detected during the beam sweeping operation.
