System and method for identifying a vehicle subject to an emergency alert

A system for identifying a vehicle subject to an emergency alert, comprising:

• an autonomous vehicle;
• one or more detection mechanisms coupled to the autonomous vehicle, configured to detect one or more vehicles;
• a location sensor, coupled to the autonomous vehicle;
• and
• a processor, configured to:
• receive, using an emergency alert module of the autonomous vehicle, an emergency alert, wherein the emergency alert includes a geographic region associated with the emergency alert and one or more identifiable markers of a wanted vehicle;
• determine, using the location sensor, whether the autonomous vehicle is within the geographic region associated with the emergency alert;
• detect, using the one or more detection mechanisms, a detected vehicle within an environment of the autonomous vehicle;
• when the autonomous vehicle is within the geographic region associated with the emergency alert, determine, for each identifiable marker, whether the detected vehicle matches the identifiable marker;
• and
• when the detected vehicle matches the one or more identifiable markers, generate a signal indicating that the detected vehicle is the wanted vehicle.

A system, comprising:

• one or more detection mechanisms coupled to an autonomous vehicle, configured to detect one or more vehicles;
• a location sensor, coupled to the autonomous vehicle;
• and
• a computing device, including a processor and a memory, coupled to the autonomous vehicle, configured to store programming instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
• receive, using an emergency alert module of the autonomous vehicle, an emergency alert, wherein the emergency alert includes a geographic region associated with the emergency alert and one or more identifiable markers of a wanted vehicle;
• determine, using the location sensor, whether the autonomous vehicle is within the geographic region associated with the emergency alert;
• detect, using the one or more detection mechanisms, a detected vehicle within an environment of the autonomous vehicle;
• when the autonomous vehicle is within the geographic region associated with the emergency alert, determine, for each identifiable marker, whether the detected vehicle matches the identifiable marker;
• and
• when the detected vehicle matches the one or more identifiable markers, generate a signal indicating that the detected vehicle is the wanted vehicle.
