Abstract
A credit card payment system with application services is described. Requirements for modern debit, prepaid and credit card products are becoming increasingly demanding and complex pushing the state of the art. This invention solves the problem of integrated application services and makes it possible to create intelligent payment cards with blended communications and reporting. Intelligence and integration across consumer and back office systems open high value features for cardholders, merchants and banks.

A system for managing discounts in the payment transaction process at the Issuing Bank in a credit card system composed of:
- An Application Server to receive transaction messages, formulate responses and determine qualifying transactions by comparison to values in database.
- A database of merchants, discounts and codes of discount qualifying members.
