Abstract
A vapor delivery system and method is provided that is adapted for treating prostate tissue. The vapor delivery system includes a vapor delivery needle configured to deliver condensable vapor energy to tissue. In one method, the vapor delivery system is advanced transurethrally into the patient to access the prostate tissue. The vapor delivery system is properly positioned by measuring and advancing the system based on a field-of-view of an endoscope or camera disposed within the system.

A method of treatment comprising:
- inserting a shaft of a vapor delivery system into a urethra of a patient;
- after inserting the shaft of the vapor delivery system, advancing a distal portion of the shaft toward a bladder neck of the patient;
- and
- measuring a distance between the bladder neck and a veru of the patient by:
- moving the distal portion of the shaft proximally from the bladder neck to the veru;
- and
- using a known field of view of a camera or an endoscope of the shaft to calculate an amount by which the distal portion has moved.
A method of treatment comprising:
- inserting a shaft of a vapor delivery system into a urethra of a patient;
- and
- after inserting the shaft of the vapor delivery system, measuring a distance between a bladder neck and a veru of the patient by:
- in a first position of the shaft, identifying an anatomical landmark that is near a first end of a field of view of a camera or an endoscope of the shaft;
- moving the shaft until the anatomical landmark is near a second end of the field of view of the camera or the endoscope, wherein the second end is opposite the first end;
- and
- using a known field of view of the camera or the endoscope to calculate an amount by which the shaft has moved.
A method of treatment comprising:
- inserting a shaft of a vapor delivery system into a urethra of a patient;
- and
- after inserting the shaft of the vapor delivery system, measuring a distance between a bladder neck and a veru of the patient by:
- identifying the bladder neck in a field of view of a camera or an endoscope of the shaft;
- moving the shaft proximally until the veru is identified in the field of view of a camera or the endoscope;
- using a known size of the field of view to calculate the distance between the bladder neck and the veru.
