Dynamic noise control for electronic devices

Abstract

Aspects of the subject technology provide for dynamic noise control for electronic devices. For example, a dynamically adjustable limit on component noise may be generated based on ambient noise, based on other device-generated sound, based on a state of an audio output device, and/or based on an application being actively utilized at an electronic device. As one example, an electronic device may increase a limit on a sound-generating component of an electronic device when the electronic device determines that a user of the electronic device is engaged in a sound-tolerant activity. As another example, an electronic device may decrease a limit on a sound-generating component of an electronic device when the electronic device determines that a user of the electronic device is engaged in a sound-sensitive activity.
