Device-specific system information validity times

An apparatus for wireless communication at a network entity, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• memory coupled to the at least one processor, the memory storing instructions executable by the at least one processor to cause the network entity to:
• transmit, to a user equipment (UE), an indication of a system information validity time, where the system information validity time is specific to one or more of:
• the UE, a device type of the UE, or a discontinuous reception cycle associated with the UE;
• and
• transmit system information in accordance with an expiration of the system information validity time at the UE.

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• receiving an indication of a system information validity time, where the system information validity time is specific to one or more of:
• the UE, a device type of the UE, or a discontinuous reception cycle associated with the UE;
• and
• monitoring for system information from a network entity in accordance with an expiration of the system information validity time at the UE.

A method for wireless communication at a network entity, comprising:

• transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), an indication of a system information validity time, where the system information validity time is specific to one or more of:
• the UE, a device type of the UE, or a discontinuous reception cycle associated with the UE;
• and
• transmitting system information in accordance with an expiration of the system information validity time at the UE.
