Systems and methods for joint signaling of transform coefficient signs

A computing system, comprising:

• control circuitry;
• memory;
• and
• one or more sets of instructions stored in the memory and configured for execution by the control circuitry, the one or more sets of instructions comprising instructions for:
• obtaining video data comprising a plurality of blocks, including a first block;
• determining a plurality of transform coefficients associated with the first block, wherein the plurality of transform coefficients are associated with respective prediction accuracies of a plurality of prediction accuracies;
• predicting respective coefficient signs for the plurality of transform coefficients;
• jointly signaling two or more of the predicted coefficient signs by grouping the two or more of the predicted coefficient signs based on the plurality of prediction accuracies;
• entropy coding the first block using the jointly signaled coefficient signs.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more sets of instructions configured for execution by a computing device having control circuitry and memory, the one or more sets of instructions comprising instructions for:

• obtaining video data comprising a plurality of blocks, including a first block;
• determining a plurality of transform coefficients associated with the first block, wherein the plurality of transform coefficients are associated with respective prediction accuracies of a plurality of prediction accuracies;
• predicting respective coefficient signs for the plurality of transform coefficients;
• jointly signaling two or more of the predicted coefficient signs by grouping the two or more of the predicted coefficient signs based on the plurality of prediction accuracies;
• entropy coding the first block using the jointly signaled coefficient signs.
