A bipolar plate for use in a fuel cell device, the bipolar plate including an integrated ply, the ply including one or more electrically conductive fibers and being configured and electrically connectable to a power supply such that the one or more fibers are heated when power is supplied to the ply.

A bipolar plate configured to be used in a fuel cell device, the bipolar plate comprising:
- an integrated ply,
- wherein the ply includes one or more electrically conductive fibers and
- wherein the ply is configured to be electrically connectable to a power supply such that the one or more fibers are heated when electrical power is supplied to the ply.
