Abstract
An electronic toll collection system (ETCS) terminal may include a communication interface connected to a vehicle network of a vehicle, a card socket configured to accommodate insertion of a payment card, a card integrated circuit (IC) chip configured to store card information of an issued card, and a controller configured to activate, based on a user input received via the communication interface, at least one of the card IC chip or the card socket.

An electronic toll collection system (ETCS) terminal comprising:
- a communication interface connected to a vehicle network of a vehicle;
- a card socket configured to accommodate insertion of a payment card;
- a card integrated circuit (IC) chip configured to store card information of an issued card;
- and
- a controller configured to activate, based on a user input received via the communication interface, at least one of the card IC chip or the card socket.

A method comprising:
- identifying, by an electronic toll collection system (ETCS) terminal associated with a vehicle, a payment card inserted into a card socket of the ETCS terminal, wherein the ETCS comprises a card integrated circuit (IC) chip storing card information of an issued card;
- receiving, by the ETCS terminal and via a communication interface connected to a vehicle network of the vehicle, a user input;
- and
- activating, by the ETCS terminal and based on the user input, at least one of the card IC chip or the card socket.
