Volume intersection using rotated bounding volumes

A processing system comprising:

• one or more central processing units (CPUs);
• one or more co-processors;
• and
• one or more memories coupled to the one or more CPUs and the one or more co-processors, the one or more memories storing instructions configured to manipulate at least one of the one or more CPUs or the one or more co-processors to:
• for a first node of a bounding volume hierarchy (BVH) tree, rotate a first bounding volume associated with the first node;
• and
• determine an intersection of a ray with the first node based on the rotated first bounding volume.

A processing system comprising:

• one or more central processing units (CPUs);
• and
• one or more co-processors, wherein at least one of the one or more CPUs and one or more co-processors is configured to:
• for a first node of a bounding volume hierarchy (BVH) tree, rotate a first bounding volume associated with the first node;
• and
• determine an intersection of a ray with the first node based on the rotated first bounding volume.
