Abstract
Provided is a white pigment for cosmetics, and the white pigment has a higher function as a base pigment than that of titanium oxide. A white pigment for cosmetics of the present invention includes a titanium phosphate powder having a whiteness of 92.91 or more as determined in accordance with JIS Z 8715.

A method for producing a white pigment for cosmetics, the method comprising:
- mixing an aqueous solution of titanium sulfate and an aqueous solution of phosphoric acid at such a ratio that phosphorus molarity to titanium molarity ([P]/[Ti]) is 5 or more and 21 or less, to obtain a liquid mixture;
- and
- heating the liquid mixture,
- wherein the white pigment comprises a titanium phosphate powder having a whiteness of 92.91 or more as determined according to JIS Z 8715.
