Abstract
Devices, systems, and methods described herein can provide a simulated fluid environment similar to the mother's womb to recreate an ideal or more familiar environment for infants who are born before their ideal due date. In some embodiments, the premature infant amniotic bath incubator can comprise an incubating tank with synthetic or simulated amniotic fluid, a heating element(s), a temperature sensor(s), and/or thermostat(s) for temperature regulation.

An incubator for a subject, the incubator comprising:
- a container configured to hold synthetic fluid having a controlled concentration of electrolytes, wherein the synthetic fluid is produced by:
- installing a cartridge in the incubator, wherein the cartridge comprises concentrated synthetic fluid having electrolytes in a higher concentration than the controlled concentration;
- and
- mixing an amount of the concentrated synthetic fluid with purified water to obtain the synthetic fluid having the controlled concentration of electrolytes;
- and
- a fluid injection pump configured to control the mixing of the concentrated synthetic fluid with the purified water such that the controlled concentration of electrolytes can be adjusted based at least in part on a characteristic of the subject in the container.
An incubator for a subject, the incubator comprising:
- a container configured to hold synthetic fluid having a controlled concentration of minerals, wherein the synthetic fluid is produced by:
- installing a cartridge in the incubator, wherein the cartridge comprises concentrated synthetic fluid having minerals in a higher concentration than the controlled concentration;
- and
- mixing an amount of the concentrated synthetic fluid with purified water to obtain the synthetic fluid having the controlled concentration of minerals;
- and
- a fluid injection pump configured to control the mixing of the concentrated synthetic fluid with the purified water such that the controlled concentration of minerals can be adjusted based at least in part on a characteristic of the subject in the container.
A method of providing medical care for a patient, the method comprising:
- providing an incubator for the patient, wherein the incubator comprises a container;
- providing purified water to the incubator;
- mixing a controlled amount of concentrated synthetic fluid with the purified water to obtain a synthetic fluid with a controlled concentration of electrolytes or minerals, wherein the concentrated synthetic fluid comprises the electrolytes or minerals in a higher concentration than the controlled concentration, wherein the controlled concentration of the electrolytes or minerals is adjustable based at least in part on one or more characteristics of the patient;
- filling the container at least partially with the synthetic fluid;
- and
- placing the patient in the container at least partially filled with the synthetic fluid.
