Abstract
A calibration tool for a dynamic projection mapping system includes a rigid body, a row of at least three light emitters disposed on the rigid body, and an additional light emitter disposed on the rigid body and offset from the row of the at least three light emitters. The calibration tool also includes a sensor disposed on the rigid body and configured to detect projected light.
Claims20
A calibration tool for a dynamic projection mapping system, the calibration tool comprising:
- a rigid body;
- a row of at least three light emitters disposed on the rigid body;
- an additional light emitter disposed on the rigid body and offset from the row of the at least three light emitters;
- and
- a sensor disposed on the rigid body and configured to detect projected light.
A dynamic projection mapping system, comprising:
- a projector configured to project visible light;
- a calibration tool, comprising:
- a plurality of emitters configured to emit infrared light;
- and
- a sensor configured to detect the visible light projected by the projector;
- a plurality of tracking cameras configured to generate image data that indicates the infrared light emitted by the plurality of emitters;
- and
- processing circuitry configured to establish a common origin point for the projector and the plurality of tracking cameras based on sensor data received from the sensor and the image data received from the plurality of tracking cameras.
A method of operating a projection system and an optical tracking system for dynamic projection mapping, the method comprising:
- instructing, via processing circuitry, a set of emitters of a calibration tool to emit light in an environment;
- receiving, from a plurality of tracking cameras and at the processing circuitry, image data indicative of respective locations of each emitter of the set of emitters in the environment;
- instructing, via the processing circuitry, a projector to project visible light into the environment;
- receiving, from a sensor of the calibration tool and at the one or more processors, sensor data indicative of the visible light detected by the sensor;
- and
- establishing, via the processing circuitry, a common origin point in the environment for the plurality of tracking cameras and the projector based on the image data and the sensor data.
