Abstract
An aircraft system for handling cryogenic liquid. The aircraft system comprises a vessel configured to store cryogenic liquid, a vacuum ejector operable to cause at least some of the cryogenic liquid to be moved from the vessel, and a pump downstream of the vacuum ejector, wherein the vacuum ejector is fluidically connected to the pump.
Claims20
An aircraft system for handling cryogenic liquid, the aircraft system comprising:
- a vessel configured to store cryogenic liquid;
- and
- a vacuum ejector operable to cause at least some of the cryogenic liquid to be moved from the vessel.
A method of handling saturated cryogenic liquid, the method comprising:
- storing the saturated cryogenic liquid in a vessel;
- causing at least a portion of the saturated cryogenic liquid to be moved from the vessel;
- and
- before, during and/or after the causing the at least a portion of the saturated cryogenic liquid to be moved from the vessel, causing a portion of the saturated cryogenic liquid that is moved, or that is to be moved, to be locally cooled to provide subcooled cryogenic liquid,
- wherein the causing the portion of the saturated cryogenic liquid to be locally cooled comprises causing saturated cryogenic liquid to be locally vaporised, such that heat from remaining saturated cryogenic liquid is absorbed by the cryogenic liquid vaporised to locally cool the remaining cryogenic liquid.
2 more elements
A method of handling cryogenic liquid in an aircraft system, the method comprising:
- storing the cryogenic liquid in a vessel of the aircraft system;
- and
- moving, with a vacuum ejector of the aircraft system, at least some of the cryogenic liquid from the vessel.
