Abstract
The disclosure provides dyes for marking hydrocarbon compositions. More particularly, the disclosure relates to non-mutagenic dyes for marking hydrocarbon com positions.
Claims20
A compound comprising the formula:
- wherein R is a methyl group, R1 is a methyl group, and R2 is an alkyl group containing from 3 to 12 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 3.
The compound according to claim 4, wherein R2 is a heptyl group. 7 The compound according to claim 6, wherein n is 1.
A composition for marking a hydrocarbon fluid, the composition comprising:
- between 0.1% and 70% by weight of a compound having the formula:
- wherein R is a methyl group, R1 is a methyl group, and R2 is an alkyl group containing from 3 to 12 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 3;
- and
- between 30% and 99.9% by weight of a solvent.

A marked hydrocarbon composition comprising:
- a hydrocarbon fluid;
- and
- from 0.1 ppm to 500 ppm of a compound having the formula:
- wherein R and R1 is a methyl group, and R2 is an alkyl group containing from 3 to 12 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 3.
