Abstract
A catalytic converter includes at least one heating element that is configured to disrupt the direction of flow of exhaust gases which contain harmful toxic gases and pollutants and aid in removing and/or reducing said toxic gases and pollutants.

A heater, comprising:
- a top portion;
- and
- a bottom portion comprising a heating element;
- wherein the heater is configured to be attached to a housing of a catalytic converter, the housing delimited by an inlet port and an outlet port and having at least one filter located between the inlet and outlet ports,
- wherein the top portion of the heater is located outside of the housing and the heating element is located entirely inside the inlet port and upstream of the at least one filter, and
- wherein the heating element is configured to heat gas inside the housing to reduce toxic gases and/or particulate matter exiting the housing.
