Method and apparatus for configuring software-defined wide area network in communication system

A method performed by a second network node in a communication system, the method comprising:

• receiving, from a device, a packet;
• identifying an application of the packet;
• identifying a slice through which the application is to be transmitted;
• and
• transmitting the packet through the slice.

A first network node in a communication system, the first network node comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• at least one processor connected with the transceiver,
• wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• receive, from a user plane function (UPF), a packet,
• based on information comprised in the packet, identify a path of a data network, and
• transmit the packet through the path of the data network.

A second network node in a communication system, the second network node comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• at least one processor connected with the transceiver,
• wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• receive, from a device, a packet,
• identify an application of the packet,
• identify a slice through which the application is to be transmitted, and
• transmit the packet through the slice.
