Platoon system for vehicles

A method for disengaging a first vehicle from a first platoon, the method comprising:

• receiving, by a controller, a parameter regarding operation of the first vehicle;
• comparing, by the controller, the parameter to a predetermined threshold;
• determining, by the controller, an exit parameter for the first vehicle responsive to determining that the parameter satisfies the predetermined threshold;
• and
• causing, by the controller, the first vehicle to exit the first platoon based on the exit parameter.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage media having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

• receiving a first parameter regarding operation of a first platoon;
• receiving a second parameter regarding operation of a first vehicle of the first platoon;
• comparing at least one of the first parameter or the second parameter to a predetermined threshold;
• responsive to determining that at least one of the first parameter or the second parameter satisfies the predetermined threshold when the first vehicle is part of the first platoon, determining an exit parameter for the first vehicle;
• and
• causing the first vehicle to exit the first platoon based on the exit parameter.
