Abstract
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a user device. A fingerprint sensor can be located adjacent to electrical contacts. As a result, both the fingerprint sensor and the electrical contacts can be directly connected to an underlying memory within the user device. The direct connection allows the user device to be free of wires.
Claims20
A user device comprising:
- a substrate;
- a first cavity in the substrate;
- a second cavity in the substrate, the second cavity being adjacent to the first cavity in the substrate;
- a memory within the second cavity;
- electrical contacts within the first cavity, the electrical contacts at least partially overlapping the memory;
- a fingerprint sensor within the first cavity, the fingerprint sensor at least partially overlapping the memory;
- a first electrical connection between the memory and the electrical contacts, the first electrical connection enabling communication between the memory and the electrical contacts;
- and
- a second electrical connection between the memory and the fingerprint sensor, the second electrical connection enabling communication between the memory and the fingerprint sensor.

A method of manufacturing a user device, the method comprising:
- creating a substrate;
- creating a first cavity within the substrate;
- creating a second cavity within the substrate, the second cavity being adjacent to the first cavity;
- inserting a memory into the second cavity;
- inserting a fingerprint sensor into the first cavity, the fingerprint sensor at least partially overlapping the memory, where the fingerprint sensor is electrically coupled to at least one first electrical connector connecting the fingerprint sensor to the memory;
- and
- providing electrical contacts in the first cavity, the electrical contacts at least partially overlapping the memory, where one or more of the electrical contacts are electrically coupled to at least one second electrical connector connecting the electrical contacts to the memory.
