Abstract
A multilayered material system includes at least one of a liner sheet and a cellular core, and a multilayered composite joined to the at least one of a liner sheet and a cellular core. The multilayered composite includes hollow microspheres dispersed within a metallic matrix material.

A method for manufacturing a multilayered composite, comprising:
- providing a first layer of a first powder having first hollow microspheres dispersed therein;
- providing a second layer of a second powder over the first layer of the first powder, the second layer of the second powder having second hollow microspheres dispersed therein;
- and
- heating the first layer of the first powder and the second layer of the second powder.

A method for manufacturing a multilayered material system, comprising:
- providing a first layer of a first powder having first hollow microspheres dispersed therein;
- providing a second layer of a second powder adjacent the first layer of the first powder, the second layer of the second powder having second hollow microspheres dispersed therein;
- sintering the first layer of the first powder and the second layer of the second powder;
- providing at least one of a liner sheet and a cellular core;
- and
- after the sintering, joining the first layer of the first powder with the at least one of a liner sheet and a cellular core.
