Random access method and communication apparatus

A communication apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing programming instructions for execution by the at least one processor to cause the communications apparatus to:
• receive a first message, wherein the first message comprises information about a correspondence between scanning periods of different scanning regions within coverage of a synchronization signal block (SSB) beam of a second communication apparatus and random access occasions (ROs) of the different scanning regions;
• and
• determine a RO based on a scanning region in which the communication apparatus is located and the first message, and initiate random access.

A communication apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing programming instructions for execution by the at least one processor to cause the communications apparatus to:
• determine a correspondence between scanning periods of different scanning regions within coverage of a synchronization signal block (SSB) beam and random access occasions (ROs) of the different scanning regions;
• and
• sending a first message comprising information about the correspondence.
