Hearing system containing a hearing instrument and a method for operating the hearing instrument

A hearing system (1) with a hearing instrument (2), the hearing instrument (2) comprising:

• an input transducer (5) configured to capture a sound signal from an environment of the hearing instrument (2);
• a voice recognition unit (12) configured to analyse the captured sound signal to recognize own-voice intervals, in which the user speaks;
• an analysis unit (15) configured to analyse the captured sound signal to determine a rate of speech (RU) of the user;
• a signal processor (11) configured to process the captured audio signal in dependence of a set of signal processing parameters (G, NL, BW), and
• an output transducer (7) configured to emit the processed sound signal to a user of the hearing instrument (2),
• characterized by
• a control unit (18) configured to adapt-said set of signal processing parameters (G, NL, BW) if said determined rate of speech (RU) falls below a threshold (TRU).
