Abstract
A telecommunications system is disclosed that coordinates and executes complex communication tasks using structured messaging and off-line synchronization.
Claims23
A mobile device comprising:
- a communications subsystem operable to establish communications over a communication channel, the communications subsystem including a network adapter operable to facilitate data communication over the communication channel according to selected network protocols;
- a multi-modal user interface including at least a voice mode and a touch mode;
- at least one context data provider;
- a processor operable to execute a special purpose application including a message framework including
- a web assembly module operable to interpret structured messages according to a workflow specification and to execute instructions included in the structured messages, the structured messages optionally including data according to simple data types and logic types and the instructions;
- and,
- a plurality of application interfaces, including a workflow message interface operable to interface data from structured messages to user interface modules capable of providing elements on the multi-modal interface, and a context interface operable to interface data with a context provider module, the context provider module operable to provide data from selected ones of the at least one context data provider;
- and,
- a storage device operable to store data and applications including the special purpose application.

A network for dynamically allocating resources comprising:
- a plurality of allocable resources;
- a plurality of mobile devices, at least one of the mobile devices in networked communication with at least another of the mobile devices and with ones of the allocable resources, the mobile devices including:
- an application for generating and interpreting structured messages in accordance with a workflow, the workflow defining data and logic for allocating the allocable resources, the application further including a context interface and a workflow interface;
- a user interface including at least one input device and at least one output device;
- at least one user interface module operable to provide elements to the at least one output device in response to data received from the application via the workflow interface;
- at least one context data provider operable to provide context data to the application via the context interface;
- and,
- a synchronization module operable to synchronize data across the at least one mobile device and the at least another mobile device,
- wherein the application populates selected structured messages with context data.
6 more elements
A method for dynamically deploying network resources comprising:
- defining a workflow for coordinating actions of networked resources including a logical organization of actions to be executed by the networked resources and a structured message schema comprising data types, logic types and instructions for executing the actions;
- networking ones of the resources via a communication channel;
- initiating the workflow from at least one of the resources at a respective resource user interface, the initiating step sending at least one structured message to other ones of the resources via networked communication, the structured message requesting a resource allocation;
- at ones of the resources receiving the at least one structured message,
- interpreting the structured message,
- generating on the user interface of the respective user interfaces the elements according to the interpreted structured message, and
- executing instructions according to the workflow, the executing step causing an action according to the workflow organization of actions;
- synchronizing state across the resources;
- and
- terminating the workflow according to the workflow organization of action.
