Intelligent restriction of device operations

An electronic device comprising:

• one or more input devices;
• one or more processors;
• memory storing instructions, wherein the memory stores one or more programs which when executed by the one or more processors cause the electronic device to perform a method comprising:
• obtaining input for a system configured for operating in a vehicle;
• automatically determining which of a driver or a passenger of the vehicle provided the input, wherein the automatically determining comprises:
• determining based on data from one or more sensors of the system if the input is provided by the driver or the passenger of the vehicle;
• and
• adjusting access to functionality of the system based on which of the driver or the passenger provided the input, including:
• in accordance with a determination that the driver provided the input and that the driver is a first user that has an identity registered with the system, enabling or disabling access to at least one function of the system based on the identity of the first user that is registered with the system;
• and
• in accordance with a determination that the passenger provided the input, enabling access to the at least one function of the system.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

• obtaining input for a system configured for operating in a vehicle;
• automatically determining which of a driver or a passenger of the vehicle provided the input, wherein the automatically determining comprises:
• determining based on data from one or more sensors of the system if the input is provided by the driver or the passenger of the vehicle is operating the system;
• and
• adjusting access to functionality of the system based on which of the driver or the passenger provided the input, including:
• in accordance with a determination that the driver provided the input and that the driver is a first user that has an identity registered with the system, enabling or disabling access to at least one function of the system based on the identity of the first user that is registered with the system;
• and
• in accordance with a determination that the passenger provided the input, enabling access to the at least one function of the system.
