Feedback filtering of time-series metric data

A non-transitory, computer-readable medium having program code stored thereon, the program code comprising instructions to:

• accumulate tagged metric data in a queue, wherein each datum of the tagged metric data includes a metric indicator, a set of one or more tags, and a metric value;
• filter the accumulated tagged metric data, wherein the instructions to filter the accumulated tagged metric data comprise instructions to,
• select, limited to a cardinality defined for a metric corresponding to the tagged metric data, a first subset of the accumulated tagged metric data grouped by tag commonality that includes first extremal metric values with respect to the grouped metric data;
• and
• emit the filtered metric data for storing.

An apparatus comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that are executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to,
• accumulate tagged metric data in a queue, wherein each datum of the tagged metric data includes a metric indicator, a set of one or more tags, and a metric value;
• filter the accumulated tagged metric data, wherein the instructions to filter the accumulated tagged metric data comprise instructions to,
• select, limited to a cardinality defined for a metric corresponding to the metric data, a first subset of the accumulated tagged metric data grouped by tag commonality that includes first extremal metric values with respect to the grouped metric data;
• and
• emit the filtered metric data for storing.
