Abstract
In some example embodiments, there may be provided a method. The method may include receiving, by a network node, at least one packet of a sub-flow of a multipath transport control protocol connection associated with user plane traffic, the at least one packet including a header, the header further including a multipath transport control protocol option; and switching, by the network node, the sub-flow by at least changing the multipath transport control protocol option. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.
Claims21
1-31. (canceled)
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a network node, at least one packet of a sub-flow of a multipath transport control protocol connection associated with user plane traffic, the at least one packet including a header, the header further including a multipath transport control protocol option;
- and
- switching, by the network node, the sub-flow by at least changing the multipath transport control protocol option.
The method of claim 31, wherein the switching switches the sub-flow on to allow the user plane traffic to flow through the sub-flow.
The method of claim 31, wherein the switching switches the sub-flow off to prevent the user plane traffic from passing through the sub-flow such that the switched user plane traffic is carried by at least another sub-flow.
The method of claim 31, wherein the switching comprises changing the multipath transport control protocol option by removing a MP_CAPABLE option from the header.
The method of claim 31, wherein the switching comprises changing a sub-flow state by an indication in the multipath transport control protocol option in the sub-flow, wherein the sub-flow state comprises a backup state or an active state, wherein the changing of the sub-flow state enables the user plane traffic to be carried by the sub-flow in the active state or prevents the user plane traffic to be carried by the sub-flow in the backup state.
The method of claim 31, wherein the switching comprises changing a sub-flow state by an indication of the multipath transport control protocol option in another sub-flow, wherein the sub-flow state comprises a backup state or an active state, wherein the changing of the sub-flow state enables the user plane traffic to be carried by the sub-flow in the active state.
The method of claim 31, wherein the multipath transport control protocol option comprises an MP_Prio, an MP_Join, and/or MP_Prio including an address of the sub-flow or the other sub-flow.
The method of claim 31 further comprising:
- detecting, based on a data sequence number and a sub-flow sequence number obtained from the header, a presence of an invisible sub-flow not passing through the network node.
An apparatus, comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to at least:
- receive at least one packet of a sub-flow of a multipath transport control protocol connection associated with user plane traffic, the at least one packet including a header, the header further including a multipath transport control protocol option;
- and
- switch the sub-flow by at least changing the multipath transport control protocol option.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium including program code which when executed causes operations comprising:
- receiving at least one packet of a sub-flow of a multipath transport control protocol connection associated with user plane traffic, the at least one packet including a header, the header further including a multipath transport control protocol option;
- and
- switching the sub-flow by at least changing the multipath transport control protocol option.
