Protecting sensitive information based on authentication factors

A method comprising:

• identify, by a microprocessor, sensitive information;
• receiving, by the microprocessor, a request to send the sensitive information from a first domain to a second domain;
• encrypting, by the microprocessor, the sensitive information, wherein the encrypted sensitive information comprises an authentication field and wherein the authentication field identifies one or more authentication factors that are required to unencrypt the sensitive information;
• and
• sending, by the microprocessor, the encrypted sensitive information to the second domain.

A system comprising:

• a microprocessor;
• and
• a computer readable medium, coupled with the microprocessor and comprising microprocessor readable and executable instructions that, when executed by the microprocessor, cause the microprocessor to:
• receive encrypted sensitive information;
• unencrypt an authentication field in the sensitive information;
• determine, by looking at the authentication field, a one or more authentication factors required to unencrypt the encrypted sensitive information;
• determine if a user who received the encrypted sensitive information has authenticated using the one or more authentication factors;
• and
• in response to the user who received the encrypted sensitive information having authenticated using the one or more authentication factors, unencrypt the encrypted sensitive information.
