Method and apparatus of enhanced re-establishment initialization in a communication system

An apparatus, comprising:

• a receiver;
• a transmitter;
• and
• a processor coupled to the receiver and the transmitter configured to cause the apparatus to initiate a re-establishment procedure when neither a master cell group (MCG) link between the apparatus and a master node (MN) nor a secondary cell group (SCG) link between the apparatus and a secondary node (SN) is available.

An apparatus, comprising:

• a receiver;
• a transmitter;
• and
• a processor coupled to the receiver and the transmitter configured to cause the apparatus to receive at least one indication from a parent node configured with a fast master cell group (MCG) link recovery function.
