Abstract
An apparatus and a system for performing thermotherapy on at least a portion of a tissue site is described. The apparatus and system comprise a heating probe comprising an emitting area. The heating probe is connectable to an energy source for heating the tissue by the emitting area. The apparatus and system comprise a sleeve. The heating probe is arrangable in the sleeve, and the sleeve is configured to be slid along the heating probe in a distal and/or proximal direction for positioning of the emitting area in said portion of tissue for controlling the thermotherapy.
Claims15
A heating probe for performing thermotherapy on at least a portion of a tissue site, comprising:
- an optical fibre comprising a light emitting area at a distal portion;
- said optical fiber is connectable to an energy source for heating said portion of tissue by said light emitting area;
- and said light emitting area is at least partially a diffuser, said diffuser is a structured writing comprising micro-modifications,
- a capillary arranged to cover at least said light emitting area to protect the emitting area.
A method a manufacturing a heating probe for performing thermotherapy on at least a portion of a tissue site, comprising:
- providing an optical fibre comprising a light emitting area at a distal portion;
- said optical fiber is configured to be connectable to an energy source for heating said portion of tissue by said light emitting area;
- and said light emitting area is at least partially a diffuser, said diffuser is a structured writing being micro-modifications,
- arranging a capillary to cover at least said light emitting area to protect the emitting area.
