Abstract
A collaborative robot cutting system for the assembly, construction, fabrication, and/or the completion of structural components for manufactured assemblies. A method of preparing work pieces and materials for further manufacturing operations employing the intuitive graphical interactive programming features of a robot cutting system user interface to enhance productivity and versatility in high mix, low volume fabrication environments with minimal operator training.
Claims22
A collaborative robot cutting system for producing precise structural components from raw work material for application in the assembly, construction, fabrication and/or completion of assembled products, the collaborative robot cutting system comprising:
- a mobile base;
- at least one programmable collaborative robot operatively connected to the mobile base;
- a cutting implement operatively connected to the at least one programmable collaborative robot;
- a power supply operatively connected to the cutting implement;
- a control system;
- and
- a safety system adapted to reduce an operating speed of the system in accordance with recognized safety standards in response to conditions detected by the system.
A method for producing precise structural components from raw work material using a collaborative robot cutting system, the cutting system including a collaborative robot, a power supply and a control system, the method comprising the steps of:
- a. moving the collaborative cutting system to material to be processed;
- b. powering on the power supply and the collaborative robot;
- c. aligning the material to be fabricated in accordance with a prescribed cut parameters set forth in associated design drawings and specifications;
- d. manually moving and positioning a cutting arm and a cutting torch operatively connected to the collaborative robot to the material to be processed;
- e. programming the collaborative robot program to create a cut path;
- and
- f. executing the program to make the cut.
