Abstract

A control system for a working machine includes a ground engaging structure which performs a compaction operation by passing over a body of a harvested crop. The control system includes a controller and at least one sensor providing an input to the controller. The controller is configured to determine a state of compaction of a section of the body of the harvested crop based on at least the input from the sensor, and provides at least one output to control the movement of the working machine over the body of the harvested crop and also provides an indication to an operator of the working machine as to the state of compaction of the body of the harvested crop at a particular section thereof.

Dependent claims

A control system for a working machine, wherein the working machine comprises a ground engaging structure comprising at least one pair of tires to perform a compaction operation by passing over a body of a harvested crop;

the control system comprising:
a controller;
and
at least one sensor providing an input to the controller;
wherein the controller is configured to determine a state of compaction of a section of the body of the harvested crop based on at least the input from the sensor;
and wherein the controller provides at least one output to control the movement of the working machine over the body of the harvested crop and/or to provide an indication to an operator of the working machine as to the state of compaction of the body of the harvested crop at a particular section thereof;
the controller being further configured to store at least one machine parameter, the machine parameter being at least one of:
distance between a pair of tires of the ground engaging structure, width of each of the pair of tires, diameter of each of the pair of tires of the working machine, and wherein the control system is configured to adjust the output based on the stored machine parameter.

A working machine comprising a control system and a ground engaging structure, wherein the ground engaging structure comprises at least one pair of tires, the control system comprising:

a controller;
and
at least one sensor providing an input to the controller;
wherein the controller is configured to determine a state of compaction of a section of the body of the harvested crop based on at least the input from the sensor;
and wherein the controller provides at least one output to control the movement of the working machine over the body of the harvested crop and/or to provide an indication to an operator of the working machine as to the state of compaction of the body of the harvested crop at a particular section thereof;
the controller being further configured to store at least one machine parameter, the machine parameter being at least one of:
distance between the pair of tires of the ground engaging structure, width of each of the pair of tires, diameter of each of the pair of tires of the working machine, and wherein the control system is configured to adjust the output based on the stored machine parameter, the working machine optionally further comprising a working implement configured to distribute additional harvested crop onto the body of harvested crop, optionally wherein the working implement is a fork.
