Connection and alignment detection systems and methods

A delivery system for delivering fluidic media to a user, the delivery system comprising:

• a first housing portion adapted to be carried by a user, and a second housing portion configured to be selectively operatively engaged with and disengaged from the first housing portion;
• a reservoir carried by one of the first housing portion or the second housing portion, the reservoir having an interior volume for containing fluidic media and a plunger head moveable within the interior volume of the reservoir along an axial direction of the reservoir;
• a drive device supported by one of the first housing portion or the second housing portion and configured such that, while the first housing portion and the second housing portion are operatively engaged, the reservoir is operatively coupled to the drive device;
• a first interactive element supported on the first housing portion;
• a second interactive element supported on the second housing portion at a location to be interactable with the first interactive element;
• and
• circuitry configured to detect an interaction between the first interactive element and the second interactive element, and, in response to detecting the interaction between the first interactive element and the second interactive element, provide a signal corresponding to a state of the interaction.

A medical device comprising:

• a first housing portion;
• a second housing portion configured to be selectively engaged with and disengaged from the first housing portion;
• a reservoir carried by one of the first housing portion or the second housing portion, the reservoir having an interior volume for containing fluidic media;
• a drive device carried by one of the first housing portion or the second housing portion, the drive device configured to cause fluidic media to flow out of the reservoir;
• a first interactive element carried by the first housing portion;
• a second interactive element carried by the second housing portion and configured to interact with the first interactive element;
• and
• electronics configured to detect an interaction between the first interactive element and the second interactive element, and, in response to detecting the interaction between the first interactive element and the second interactive element, provide a signal corresponding to a state of the interaction.
