Systems, devices, and methods for animating always on displays at variable frame rates

A smartwatch comprising:

• an always on display;
• at least one high-power physical processor adapted to:
• transition from a low-power state to a high-power state;
• animate the always on display while in the high-power state;
• and
• transition from the high-power state to the low-power state;
• and
• at least one low-power physical processor adapted to animate the always on display at two or more frame rates while the high-power physical processor is in the low-power state.

A system comprising:

• a display;
• at least one high-power physical processor;
• physical memory comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the high-power physical processor, cause the high-power physical processor to:
• transition from a low-power state to a high-power state;
• animate the display while in the high-power state;
• and
• transition from the high-power state to the low-power state;
• at least one low-power physical processor;
• and
• additional physical memory comprising additional computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the low-power physical processor, cause the low-power physical processor to animate the display at two or more frame rates while the high-power physical processor is in the low-power state.
