Reconfigurable surfaces for sidelink communications

A method for wireless communication at a first user equipment (UE), comprising:

• detecting, from a second UE, signaling indicating that retransmissions of a first message from a third UE to a fourth UE are reflected by a reconfigurable surface associated with the second UE;
• selecting a set of sidelink resources for sidelink communications by the first UE based at least in part on the detected signaling;
• and
• communicating using the selected set of sidelink resources.

An apparatus for wireless communication at a first user equipment (UE), comprising:

• a processor;
• memory coupled with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• detect, at the first UE, an indication of a first message transmit over sidelink resources from a second UE to a third UE;
• transmit signaling indicating that retransmissions of the first message are reflected by a reconfigurable surface associated with the first UE;
• and
• configure the reconfigurable surface associated with first UE for reflecting the retransmissions of the first message from the second UE.

An apparatus for wireless communication at a first user equipment (UE), comprising:

• a processor;
• memory coupled with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• detect, from a second UE, signaling indicating that retransmissions of a first message from a third UE to a fourth UE are reflected by a reconfigurable surface associated with the second UE;
• select a set of sidelink resources for sidelink communications by the first UE based at least in part on the detected signaling;
• and
• communicate using the selected set of sidelink resources.
