Abstract
A system and method for an improved connective tissue repair option that reduces disadvantages of conventional fixation options. Pre-installation compression of a connective tissue graft to a reduced diameter and installation into a prepared bone tunnel having a diameter greater than the compressed diameter but less than the uncompressed diameter improves mechanical press-fixation without requiring (but may be used optionally) other mechanical fixation techniques as necessary or desired.
Claims10
An apparatus for decreasing a size of a unit of a compressible connective tissue, comprising:
- a compressor configured to receive the unit within a size-decreasing structure, said compressor including an actuator coupled to said size-decreasing structure with said actuator configured to operate said compressor to decrease a size of the compressible connective tissue using a size-decreasing action of said compressor;
- a control, coupled to said actuator, initiating said size-decreasing action.
A method for decreasing a size of a unit of a compressible connective tissue, comprising:
- receiving the unit within a size-decreasing structure of a compressor, said compressor including an actuator coupled to said size-decreasing structure with said actuator configured to operate said compressor to decrease a size of the compressible connective tissue using a size-decreasing action of said compressor;
- and
- operating said actuator to initiate said size-decreasing action.
