Leveraging a social network to search for local inventory

One or more computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by a computing device, cause the computing device to perform operations, the operations comprising:

• receiving search input from a first user device of a first user;
• determining a location of a second user;
• performing a search using the search input and the location of the second user;
• providing one or more search results to the first user device based on the search;
• receiving a purchase confirmation for an item included in the one or more search results;
• and
• communicating, to a second user device of the second user, pickup information enabling the second user to pick up the item from a merchant location.

A computer system comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a computer storage medium storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by the processor, causes the computer system to perform operations comprising:
• receiving search input from a first user device of a first user;
• determining a location of a second user;
• performing a search using the search input and the location of the second user;
• providing one or more search results to the first user device based on the search;
• receiving a purchase confirmation for an item included in the one or more search results;
• and
• communicating, to a second user device of the second user, pickup information enabling the second user to pick up the item from a merchant location.
