Abstract
A portable electronic device can act as a music player, gaming device and a smart phone combined. The device has multiple panels each with a display. The panels are connected in a manner to permit the device to be opened and closed such as by folding the panels. When folded the a device is compact and able to held in the palm of a hand, yet such a device can be extended into a larger form factor, such as the size of commonly available tablets. Furthermore, when in proximity to a large display device, such a device can act like a laptop or personal computer through a local connection such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other communication protocol to the display.
Claims20

An electronic device comprising four panels, the device characterized by:
- a folded mode where the panels are in a stacked configuration, at least a plurality of the panels having a display on at least one side, at least one display panel facing outward when the device is in said folded mode, and wherein the folded panels are connected via at least a first connector to hold the panels together in said folded mode together;
- and
- open mode where each panel is connected to and adjacent to at least one of the other panels.
An electronic device comprising a plurality of panels, the device extendible from a closed mode to an open mode, the device comprising:
- a closed mode where the panels are in a compact configuration, at least one of the panels having a display on at least one side, said display panel facing outward when the device is in said closed mode, and
