Liquid crystal cell comprising a stack of functional layers including first and second dielectric layers and a transparent electrode layer each having a refractive index

A liquid crystal cell comprising:

• at least two substrates that are transparent to a visible part of a light spectrum;
• a liquid crystal layer that is encased between the at least two substrates;
• a stack of functional layers that are formed over the at least two substrates and that are enclosed between a given substrate and the liquid crystal layer, wherein the stack of functional layers comprises, in a direction from the given substrate towards the liquid crystal layer,
• a first dielectric layer;
• a transparent electrode layer;
• and
• a second dielectric layer,
• wherein a refractive index of the first dielectric layer lies in a range between a refractive index of the given substrate and a refractive index of the transparent electrode layer, and a refractive index of the second dielectric layer lies in a range between the refractive index of the transparent electrode layer and a refractive index of the liquid crystal layer corresponding to a homeotropic alignment of a liquid crystal material of the liquid crystal layer.
