System and methods to provide immersive lighting interaction

A computer-implemented method for controlling a lighting infrastructure, the method comprising the steps of:

• receiving, from a sensor of a mobile client device carried by a user, sensor samples;
• and
• classifying, by the mobile client device, a subset of the sensor samples to generate a classification of the sensor samples;
• and
• mapping, by the mobile client device, the classification to a corresponding control instruction for controlling the lighting infrastructure,
• transmitting, by the mobile client device, the control instruction to the computing device,
• determining, by the computing device, a control signal in accordance with the control instruction, and
• sending, by the computing device, the control signal to the lighting controller for controlling the lighting infrastructure;
• or
• transmitting, by the mobile client device, the classification to the computing system,
• receiving, by the computing system, a plurality of classifications from a plurality of mobile client devices,
• selecting, by the computing system, a classification type among the received plurality of classifications based on a relative frequency or a threshold amount of said classification type occurring in said received plurality of classifications,
• determining, by the computing device, a control signal corresponding to the classification type, and
• sending, by the computing system, the control signal to the lighting controller for controlling the lighting infrastructure.
