Dynamic allocation of bandwidth to virtual network ports

An information handling system, comprising:

• a processing subsystem including one or more central processing units (CPUs);
• a memory subsystem including memory resources communicatively coupled to the processing resources;
• a storage subsystem;
• one or more network adapters;
• a baseboard management controller including a network bandwidth manager configured to perform bandwidth management operations comprising:
• accessing assignment information indicating which of a plurality of virtual network ports are assigned to which of a plurality virtual machines associated with a hypervisor;
• receiving, by a network bandwidth manager, network utilization information indicative of the network utilization of each virtual network port;
• receiving, by the network bandwidth manager, virtual machine priority information indicative of a derived priority for each of the plurality of virtual machines;
• and
• configuring one or more bandwidth parameters for each of the plurality of network ports based on the assignment information, the network utilization information, and the virtual machine priority information.
