Harq operation at phy layer level

A receiving station (STA) in a wireless local area network system, the receiving STA comprises,

• a transceiver for transmitting and receiving a radio signal;
• and
• a processor coupled to the transceiver, wherein the processor is configured to:
• receive, from a transmitting STA, a physical protocol data unit (PPDU),
• wherein the PPDU includes receiver identifier (ID) information, wherein the receiver ID information is a physical (PHY) layer signal, and wherein the PPDU is a PPDU transmitted only to the receiving STA;
• perform a first error check on the PPDU, wherein the first error check is performed in a PHY layer;
• transmit, to the transmitting STA, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback frame based on the first error check, wherein the HARQ feedback frame is a PHY layer signal;
• and
• receive, from the transmitting STA, a retransmission PPDU,
• wherein the retransmission PPDU is a PPDU retransmitted based on the HARQ feedback frame, and wherein the retransmission PPDU includes the receiver ID information.

A method performed by a transmitting station (STA) in a wireless local area network system, the method comprising:

• transmitting, to a receiving STA, a physical protocol data unit (PPDU),
• wherein the PPDU includes receiver identifier (ID) information, wherein the receiver ID information is a physical (PHY) layer signal, and wherein the PPDU is a PPDU transmitted only to the receiving STA;
• receiving, from the receiving STA, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback frame for the PPDU, wherein the HARQ feedback frame is a PHY layer signal;
• and
• transmitting, to the receiving STA, a retransmission PPDU,
• wherein the retransmission PPDU is a PPDU retransmitted based on the HARQ feedback frame, and wherein the retransmission PPDU includes the receiver ID information.
